Scorpio, that's deep, right? If you love the season's intensity, you definitely won't be disappointed this month...

Each year, thanks to an ever-moving sky, Zodiac signs manifest a little differently. So, let’s dive into the astrological energies that set the 2023 Scorpio Season apart from other years.

If you want to learn more about what the Zodiac sign Scorpio means in general, check out my post on how to Make the Most of Scorpio Season.

This year, the Sun enters Scorpio on Oct. 23, 2023, at 11:21 a.m. Eastern U.S. and remains there until Nov. 22, 2023, at 8:02 a.m. Eastern U.S.

Here's the solar chart for the 2023 Scorpio ingress:

2023 Scorpio Ingress Astrological Data

  • Sun’s Zodiac Sign: Scorpio
  • Aspects to the Sun: Sun conjunct Mercury & Mars in Scorpio; Sun trine Saturn in Pisces
  • Location of Sign Ruler: Mars in Scorpio (in rulership)
  • Aspects to the Sign Ruler: Mars conjunct Sun & Mercury in Scorpio; Mars trine Saturn in Pisces Mars opposite Jupiter in Taurus.
  • Location of the Moon: Aquarius
  • Aspects to the Moon: Moon square Uranus in Taurus
  • Important Considerations this Month: It’s eclipse season; lunar eclipse in Taurus

During this Scorpio season, the Sun joins feisty Mars, which has been traveling through its home sign for a couple of weeks. Mars loves being in Scorpio; some would say it’s his favorite place to be. The Scorpionic waters cool down Mars’ fiery nature. And, they give it a purpose: the courage to face what lies within, underneath, or on the edges. Mars in Scorpio gives strength for facing the darkest areas of life – whether sickness, war, hatred and death – in a way that eventually may bring healing and peace.

Mercury’s also hanging out in Scorpio with the Sun and Mars. Here, Mercury’s role as psychopomp, the walker between worlds is emphasized. It suggests a time to turn your conscious, thinking mind to the in-between places in your life. Any tool you use to search within – whether through journaling, therapy, dreamwork or something else – will help you make the most of this energy.

At the start of the Scorpio season, the Moon travels through Aquarius. Under Aquarius Moons, the vibe may seem cool, logical and detached. It can be a gift for doing self-work if that detachment helps you see situations as they really are. (As opposed to running away from them or ignoring them). The Moon is also squaring off with iconoclastic Uranus in Taurus, which may add a little spice to the mix. Uranus wants to be free to be unique and Self-centered. If you do discover you need to make a change to be more YOU, Uranus will give you a push in that direction.

It’s also eclipse season as the Sun enters Scorpio. The second of two eclipses occurs at the Oct. 28 Full Moon. When the sky’s brightest lights fall into shadow, skywatchers have warned of suppressed life force energy and dark forces unleashed. But, in modern terms, eclipses may suggest a time to take stock of our own beliefs and actions, and if they reflect reality-as-it-is or the projection of our own fears or beliefs. The eclipses this season are both ruled by Venus, which suggests that 'The Work' focuses on how you relate to others, especially your significant others.

In other celestial news, the easy alignment of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto continues. In history, it’s rare the three outer planets are so closely aligned (though it has happened several times in the 20th century). It’s often a signal of a deep paradigm shift in the collective unconscious. The energy is so subtle, it will take years for it to be felt in everyday life. For now, it’s merely a suggestion of a new possibility. This is especially true in how we relate to the earth and the oceans, given that the planets occupy earth and water signs.

Best Approach to Scorpio Horoscope 2023

What is your best approach to Scorpio season 2023? It’s not really a time for action, but rather a lot of self-reflection about who you are and what you want. You may discover you need to make some changes in your life, especially regarding your relationships, so that you are fully supported in doing what you feel called to do.

Of course, looking within, saying goodbye, and the like is rarely easy, but the work you do now will create the future you want to live in. Do it now, and you'll feel much better later.
