Taurus Horoscope 2023

"Slow down and savor" is the counsel of Taurus season. Satisfaction-seeking Taurus can help take the edge off our hard-charging lifestyle by reminding us that life is meant to be lived, not a race to be won. Taurus lessons teach the power of patience and persistence, and gift us the myriad pleasures of life's tiny perfect moments.

However, that's not the whole story of the season. Thanks to an ever-moving sky, the Zodiac signs manifest a little differently each year. So, let’s dive into the astrological energies that set the 2023 Taurus Season apart from other years.

If you want to learn more about what the Zodiac sign Aries means, check out my post on how to Make the Most of Taurus Season.

This year, the Sun enters Taurus on April 20, 2023, at 3:13 am CDT, and remains there until May 21, 2023, at 2:09 am CDT. Here's the solar chart for the 2023 Taurus ingress:

Now let’s get into what sets the 2023 Taurus Season apart from those in other years.

As this Taurus season begins, the Sun wanders through Taurus side by side with the Moon. It’s a happy combination for slowing down and smelling the flowers along the way. The Moon’s exalted in Taurus, so comfort and self-nurturing are top of mind.

Taurus’ ruler Venus feels breezy and light in Gemini. She’s willing to explore and indulge her curiosity. Even better, she’s less likely to get clingy and possessive. Here she encourages spontaneity and experimentation. Enjoy going with the flow.

If the story ended there, this would be the most pleasant of months. But life is rarely so simple. Just a day after the Sun enters Taurus, Mercury begins its 3-week retrograde, also in Taurus. Even that isn’t so bad; it will encourage you to slow day and re-evaluate how you live your 3D life.

Where things get complicated are with the Plutonic, eclipsy themes percolating in the Underworld during the month. As the Sun and Moon enter Taurus, they square off with Pluto. It’s as if there’s a Shadow hanging over the journey through the celestial garden. Fear and shame and guilt may simmer just below the surface.

This month’s also in the middle of eclipse season, encouraging you to confront those shadowy bits of your self – your beliefs and experiences – that whisper to you that pleasure is not to be enjoyed. Especially not by you. If you can confront the roots of these distorted beliefs, you may be able to free yourself from them once and for all.

And there’s hope for this outcome, too. Ever-opitimistic Jupiter enters Taurus on May 16, just after the Mercury retrograde ends. Jupiter often sweeps in to bring light and new hope to wherever he journeys. In Taurus this also means a willingness to see the sacred in Earthly pleasures, which is the perfect antidote to the shadows of puritanical thinking illuminated by Pluto.

Best Approach to Taurus 2023

What does all of this suggest about your best approach this Taurus season? All signs point to slowing down so you can do some inner work, or just enjoy life. The first three weeks of the month are especially encouraging for taking a time out. Once you arrive at mid-month, things are looking up again. Before that, keep it simple, if you can.
