'Tis the season of the Goatfish, ever climbing yet tethered to deep waters. Ambition demands structure, but emotions must be tamed. Capricorn’s wisdom? Patience, resilience and determination—the necessary tools for mastering both life’s heights and depths.
Each year, thanks to an ever-moving sky, Zodiac signs manifest a little differently. This year's instability suggest Capricorn's grit and persistence may be more needed than ever.
So, let’s dive into the astrological energies that set the 2024 Capricorn Season apart from other years.

These charts are traditionally used in weather forecasting, as well as predictions for other events that impact societies, nations and the world.
Sun in Capricorn Forecast 2024
Firs of all, this year the Sun makes no aspects as Capricorn season begins. That suggests there’s little to distract from the Capricorn desire to den up and focus on the essentials of life. It may add a twinge of loneliness to the season, too, if one is prone to such things. Just remember, pragmatism is your friend.
The mood of the season is set by the Moon, which is feeling fidgety in earthy Virgo. When under stress (which this Moon may likely feel), a Virgo Moon seeks to release it by adjusting everything in its environment until it feels “perfect.” Since there is no such thing, it can easily translate to unrealistic expectations leading to disappointment. You’re better off if you stay focused on the journey and not the destination.
The source of the Moon’s stress is likely the tied up in the web of inter-planetary relations that astrologers call a “mutable grand square.” It’s a bit like a four-way tug of war, in which no side gains ground.
On one side, the Moon faces off with ruler of Capricorn, Saturn. Saturn is finishing his three-year swim through oceanic Pisces, where he’s been trying to figure out how to maintain a center when everything is shifting. Saturn’s trying to tell the Moon to “be here now.”
Unfortunately, that’s especially tough to do since the Moon is distracted by the antics of a detrimental duo – Jupiter in Gemini and Mercury in Sagittarius. Both planets feel out of sorts like the odd television couple forced to live in their opposite partner’s side of the house. They can try and yell advice across the room, but the other will likely not take it. Given that these two planets serve as the rulers of the Virgo Moon (Mercury) and the Pisces Saturn (Jupiter), the entire cast is most likely to result in comedic dysfunction.
In other news, Mars in Leo once again faces off with Pluto in Aquarius. While he’s retrograding over the next few months, the red planet may feel a little gun shy, uncertain about the consequences of his actions. Meanwhile, Pluto in Aquarius is showing us the dark side of our ideological motivations. It’s an awkwardly introspective note in the midst of the rest of the celestial story, one that may be easily missed in the rest of the holiday drama.
Best Approach to Capricorn Season 2024
There’s a lot going on in the 2024 Capricorn season, so discovering your own “best approach” may require some trial and error. A mutable grand square can be a little like a speeded-up merry-go-round. You can jump on and revel in the chaotic ride. Or jump off and hang out in a quiet corner. There’s not much in between the two, which can lead to an unpredictable season. Perhaps the best you can do is accept that you do have a choice whether to ride or not. And, even though the start of 2025 may seem super busy, just remember that most of that activity is going nowhere fast.
"Action and reaction, ebb and flow, trial and error, change - this is the rhythm of living. Out of our over-confidence, fear; out of our fear, clearer vision, fresh hope. And out of hope, progress."
