Ready, set... eclipse. The 2025 Aries New Moon doesn’t just want you to ignite—it wants you to combust. As a Partial Solar Eclipse rising over northeastern North America, this lunation both stokes the flames and wields a fire extinguisher. It's complicated combustion.

You may feel the pull toward new beginnings, but don’t expect a clean, confident start. Between retrogrades, moody Mars and a filtered dose of Aries heat, this one’s more spark-and-smoke than smooth ignition. If your world feels wobbly right now, you’re not alone—and you're not off-track.

About the New Moon in Aries

The annual Aires New Moon occurs between Mar. 20 and April 19. From the point of view of the Northern Hemisphere, spring is here. Leaves burst forth, flowers bloom, and life awakes from its annual slumber.

The Sun exalts in his return to Aries; he returns to his dominion over Northern skies. For the next six months, daylight hours are longer than nighttime hours. Conscious, outward activity is prioritized over gestation and inner work. Ask yourself, what do you want to create?

Because the Aries New Moon is a non-nonsense, shoot-from-the-hip position. The Sun is stronger than the Moon here, which means our emotions take a back seat to our solar desires. Without other factors to slow things down, we’re likely to act impulsively without much thought for the consequences.

The secret to success under an Aries New Moon? Hopefully, you know what you want and need before the Aries New Moon because there won’t be a lot of patience to wait for your careful consideration. The Aries New Moon is going to MOVE, and it's going to choose the most direct path to get there. Do your best to direct the Ram’s Horns to what you truly want and need.

2025 Aries New Moon Forecast

The New Moon on March 29 ain’t no ordinary lunar reset—it’s a partial solar eclipse. You know, the kind that tends to pull hidden truths into the open by temporarily dimming the visible light. Sure, eclipses bring course corrections, but they do it on their own timeline. This one? It’s in Aries—the sign of impulse, ignition and unapologetic momentum. But the path forward may not be as straightforward as Aries would like...

For starters, the Moon is traveling “super” fast; there’s an itch to start fresh, to leap forward, to initiate without waiting for a green light. Technically, it’s a Super (New) Moon, so it’s actually closer to the earth than usual. Though you can’t see the effect, it will definitely churn the tides. An extra springy spring tide if you wish. Don’t expect to get a lot of sleep around this one; you may even feel it’s magnetic weirdness days in advance.

Also, in the ACT NOW column, this New Moon falls in the 1st Lunar Mansion, Al Sharatain. I’ve nicknamed it the Lance, because it’s tied into the passionate pursuit of a course of action. Just do it. Enough said. What are you waiting for? Right? “You have your orders now… Go, man, go!” (Lance? Bayonet? Same thing.)

BUT... (and it’s a big one), with Mercury retrograde just barely entering Aries, the brakes are grinding even as the engine revs. You may want to move—but the signals are scrambled. If you’re getting crunchy (or burnt) around the edges, taking a time out is okay. Go lay on the lawn for a few minutes in the sunshine; it will help you get centered again.

The eclipse lord Mars, Aries’ ruler, is offering to second this notion. Right now he’s still loitering in Cancer. And not comfortably. Mars is in fall here—moody, reactive and emotionally charged. It’s hard to go after what you want when you’re tangled up in all the feels. Still, Mars is harmonizing with the steadying influence of Saturn in Pisces, which might offer a touch of structure or discipline—if you're willing to stop whinging about your situation and just do it.

“Yes, but can I see it?” is often the wonder with solar eclipses. So, here’s a heads up: It’s mostly a Canada-Greenland affair. (EEK! I am SO SORRY, that the U.S. has an eclipse baby as its current president, it’s like a celestial bullseye spotlighting you! But this means if you are in the northeastern U.S., signs point to yes. Live Science suggests:

“Coastal New England will get the best views. In Maine, up to 86 percent of the sun will be eclipsed as it rises. New Hampshire and Massachusetts will see up to 57 percent and 55 percent coverage, respectively. Boston will see a 43 percent eclipse.”

Though technically the eclipse is partial, it will be made more spectacular by those watching it at sunrise; the atmosphere shields eyes from the Sun, so you can see the eclipse happening without the eclipse glasses (still, keep them handy; I am not advocating for damaging your eyes).

This eclipse has no major aspects to the Sun and Moon, creating a kind of “well, I’m waiting?” energy. Nothing tugs it forward or holds it back. It’s just raw potential—unguided and unrefined yet still powerful. You might feel like the match is lit, but you’re not sure what it’s meant to burn. Try not to set your bathrobe on fire while making the morning tea. (Been there; done that; don’t recommend.) But the upside is that stuff that breaks down during the eclipse may not have as many ripple effects; the wildfire is somewhat contained.

Following along the restraint theme, in other news, a friendly chat between serious Saturn and iconoclastic Uranus in Taurus can lead to “Mature Voices” counseling restraint for the Uranian “toss it all and figure it out later” campers. (Hey, every little bit helps, take it!) Innovation and caution can be the greatest of friends in proper proportion.

Make the Most of the 2025 Aries New Moon

This eclipse isn’t here to dazzle—it’s here to strip away what no longer belongs. Don’t try to control it. Don’t try to manifest through it. Let the fires do what they do best: clear the field for something new. Aries wants movement—but this is movement that begins within. If you feel restless, let that energy guide you to the source of the resistance. Burn the story that says you have to be ready before you begin. You’re already in motion. Now, you just have to decide what kind of flame you want to be.
