2025 full moon in Virgo

The Virgo Full Moon is a call for clarity and refinement in the midst of Pisces’ ethereal and intuitive season. Given Pisces' boundless imagination and spiritual depth, the discerning Virgin reminds us that grounding our visions in practical action and mindful rituals is essential for living a full-realized life.

For many of us, this may be an important inside to remember when confronting a chaotic world. The 2025 Virgo Full Moon is also a Blood Moon eclipse, a herald of the accelerated changes coming over the next year. Don't miss your last chance to buckle up.

About the Full Moon in Virgo

We encounter the annual Virgo Full Moon each year between Feb. 19 and March 20. In the northern hemisphere, it’s the final full Moon before the beginning of Spring. And so it contains all of the restless promise of the “night before” something is about to happen -- all the hopes and anxieties and the restless desire to do something.

Of course, the Sun and Moon are always in opposite signs at a Full Moon, the eternal dance of yang and yin. The Sun illuminates our divine dreams and visions in Pisces, while the Moon in Virgo seeks to remind us that our purpose is to make our dreams manifest on the Earth plane. It’s the Full Moon that reminds us most of the importance of connecting Above and Below.

All Full Moons are energy-charged moments, and the Virgo full Moon. Is no exception. There’s a desire to “fix” things… move them around or change so that the result is better, more efficient or more whole. It’s definitely the “spring cleaning” Moon.

This impulse is especially true for physical objects. If Pisces yearns for wholeness and union with the divine, the Virgo full Moon attempts to create a physical world that reflects that deep yearning for completion (that’s what the root of the Latin word perfection means, to complete or make whole.)

Making the best of the Virgo Full Moon is a balancing act. It’s a great time to clear out the clutter and come up with new organizational systems for other life improvement plans. But it’s also essential to remember that perfection isn’t an end goal, it’s a process. You can use its pursuit as a “north star” to guide you; just don’t forget that though stars guide they will never be within your grasp. Keep moving forward.

Virgo Full Moon 2025 Forecast

This Full Moon is a total lunar eclipse. It’s also called a “blood moon” eclipse. That’s because at the height of the eclipse, the Moon’s disk turns a dusky red, the color of all the sunsets and sunrises on Earth at the moment. This eclipse is visible in its entirety from North and South America. It’s also the first of three eclipses over the next 18 months; the following ones are in September 2025 and March 2026 are visible from Asia and Oceania respectively.

Lunar eclipses can herald potent turning points in our emotional lives. It may feel more personal to those with planets in Virgo or Pisces; something passes away and something new is arrives. Make space for the change, it may bring you closer to your soul purpose.

For all of us, it can mean a night of odd dreams and experiences; for those out in the world, even odder twilight experiences may await. If you can stay safe and rooted, it’s an ideal moment for shadow work or to explore altered states of awareness. But beware of risky behavior; things could get weird very fast.

The “Lord of the Eclipse” is Mercury, Virgo’s ruling planet. He’s loitering in Aries, waiting for his retrograde to begin barely 24 hours after the eclipse. His partner-in-retrograde-crime, Venus awaits Mercury’s swift, if awkward, arrival. The pair are just beginning a three-week do-over tour. From relationships to work to your daily routines, everything is up for review. You may find tough to get traction on moving projects ahead, but it’s a perfect time to buckle down and clear out the backlog.

Also, you might as well take your time. The Full Moon in Virgo is moving slower than normal since it occurs near the furthest point from Earth in its orbit. (It’s sometimes called a “Mircomoon,” since it appears smaller in the skies). This helps us to slow down. Be deliberate and reflective in your decisions and actions. It may also feel like things take longer to come to fruition; patience is your ally.

The Eclipsed Moon sits all alone in Virgo, opposite three “planets” in Pisces – the Sun, plus Saturn and Neptune. The Sun is closely conjunct Saturn at this lunation. Wrapping up his three-year journey through Pisces, Saturn’s learning the art of being mindful and staying centered in the midst of ceaseless change. Saturn aims to pull our energy downward into manifestation so we can experience life on the Earth plane. His connection with the Sun make this eclipse feel like it marks a “weighty” moment in time (whether from its historic significance or from the baggage you’re lugging around is a matter of perspective.)

Neptune is less concerned with eclipse drama than with his own Big Move from Pisces into Aries, which is just a couple of weeks away. His boxes are all packed and he’s waiting for his ride to arrive; anything he touches will taste his yearning for something fresh and new. Aries will encourage Neptune to find spiritual inspiration from the divine spark within rather than from big institutions. It’s the first taste of his 14-year journey. Take notes if you want to plan ahead!

An iconoclastic Uranus in Taurus cheers on the Sun and Moon from the stands. It’s no secret that Uranus enjoys blowing things up. Shocking insights and abrupt change are his favorite things, especially in the cause of living a more soul-centered life. But Uranus can’t force his type of change from the stands; use his energy or not, as you wish.

And there’s one last arrow in your quiver. This Full Moon falls in the 14th lunar mansion Al Simak. I nicknamed it the Harvest since it’s a great moment to “separate the wheat from the chaff,” so to speak. When threshing wheat, the stalks are roughly shaken to separate the nutritious kernel from its undigestable packaging. Collect what supports you in life, and release the rest.

Make the Most of the 2025 Virgo Full Moon

Clearly, there’s a lot of stuff going on during this 2025 Virgo Full Moon. There’s plenty that portends a massive change in direction: An eclipse whose lord is retrograde, plus a little kiss from rebellious Uranus. On the other hand, Saturn and a slow Moon are dragging like an anchor across the ocean floor. In moments such as these, the only way out is through.

Focus on what is essential and give yourself extra space for rest and reflection. The alternative is a slippery slope from tired to exhausted to burnout; not a great place from which to navigate a chaotically changing world. Whether your concerns are global or personal, hold on to what’s most important, practice self-care, and allow the rest to dissolve away. The time for rebuilding is coming soon, and you’ll want to be ready.

"The most essential factor is persistence - the determination never to allow your energy or enthusiasm to be dampened by the discouragement that must inevitably come."
